Two key players of the scene join forces on Figures sixteenth release. No one else than Adam Beyer and Luke Slater contribute tracks to this very special EP. "MOD" by Luke Slater's "Planetary Assault Systems" project takes off with a fast, breathless groove. Its force drags the dancers along, and the mesmerizing bleeps put everybody in a deep trance. Within seconds, the solid ground of the dancefloor is nothing but a remote memory. "MOD" has a very special aura, it is hard to grasp its exceptional energy. It appears to be pretty elementary, and yet it is an overwhelming techno anthem which will accompany you for quite some time. Adam Beyers "Simulated Usage" surprises the crowd with its elegance and subtlety. Forming an irresistible funk, the fabric of the track interweaves various tiny elements. This savageness obviously manifests in his musical approach which can be characterized by his open-mindedness in regard to diverse influences, currents and styles. "Simulated Usage" is strong and joyful, it is techno in its best sense. Once again, Adam Beyer und Luke Slater manage to coin the face of contemporary club music.
